ADK Camps
A Paradise for Boys and Girls: Summer Camps in the Adirondacks
For The Adirondack Museum, Blue Mountain Lake, N.Y.
Opened May 2003
This environmental exhibition used a wide variety of evocative settings to interpret the experience of children’s camps for a family audience. All components of the exhibition reflected the camp theme, including the use of “stick-style” lettering for the introduction, a dock with lighting effects simulating water, a cabin in which campers would have stayed, and a theater. Audio-visual components included images from film and photographic resources, and smaller exhibitions interpreting the camp experience were scattered throughout the museum’s campus, allowing for the exhibition theme to carry over into other areas in the museum.
