Temporary Exhibition Insurance

Fine art and relics of history are priceless resources. But it is when they are shown and shared that they have real value.

TEA offers a low-cost temporary exhibition insurance which covers traveling exhibitions and short-term, temporary projects.

This insurance protects exhibiting organizations from risk and loss. As a non-profit membership organization with an outstanding safety record, we can provide coverage to our members at the lowest possible cost.

What it Covers

Artwork is covered for all perils, including terrorism, except as excluded in the policy. The insurance will not cover artwork for an amount greater than its value, nor does it provide liability coverage or any protection for the gallery or physical location.

TEA does not cover artist studios, outdoor exhibitions or exhibitions in unsecured or unsupervised facilities.

What it Costs

With a deductible of $1,000, the premium paid is .08 per $100 of value per month (minimum charge is $20). Or, a deductible of $250 is available at a cost of .15 per $100 of value per month (minimum charge is $35). Coverage for more or less than a one month period is prorated.

Facility Requirements

  • Securely locked and alarmed.
  • On-site supervision at all times when the gallery is open to the public.
  • Limited access gallery.
  • The facility is appropriately heated and/or cooled 24 hours a day.
  • Fire suppression system.
